Abstrak
In Palangka Raya City, Indonesia, this study looked into the prevalence of Candida albicans in women who had irregular vaginal discharge. Samples were taken from women who visited certain Public Health Centers and displayed symptoms including itching and foul-smelling discharge using a descriptive survey design. Sterile cotton swabs were used to remove vaginal swabs from the outer part of the vaginal wall following informed consent. Every sample was applied to a glass slide, let to air dry, fixed for two minutes with 70% ethanol, stained for ten minutes with 10% Giemsa, rinsed with distilled water, and then inspected under a microscope. The results showed that Candida albicans was the predominant infectious agent found and responsible for 55.04% of all infections seen, appearing in 23.88% of the total samples. According to the statistics, Candida albicans is the main cause of vaginal infections in the community under study. This emphasizes the need for increased awareness, precise diagnosis, and suitable antifungal treatment plans that are specific to women in this area.
