Abstrak

The utilization of natural compounds from plants is an essential pillar in pharmaceutical and medicinal development. This study aimed to identify and characterize the phytochemical profile of Rhodomyrtus tomentosa fruit, focusing on fatty acid content using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Fruit samples were collected from a forest area in Pontianak and extracted with 96% ethanol. GC-MS analysis was conducted to determine the volatile and semi-volatile compounds present in the extract. The results revealed 22 biomolecular peaks dominated by fatty acids derivatives, including n-hexadecanoic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. These compounds exhibit bioactive potential such as antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing activities, supporting the potential use of karamunting fruit as a source of herbal medicinal ingredients. This study provides a strong scientific foundation for developing innovative and eco-friendly herbal products based on Rhodomyrtus tomentosa.
